Well, if you have had any doubts about the potential of semantic technologies then please take the time to review the below video.
If you have not got any doubts, please view the video anyway.
This is what I want my tax money to be spent on. I want research that comes up with software that will make a difference in our lives! And this type of stuff will make a huge difference!
My sincere thanks to Paolo, Giovanni and the rest of the Sindice and SIGMA team!

I know that getting the eccence of information does not mean that we want pages filled with hyperlinks....but don't you see the potential?
Linked data will change the way we can access and work with information from disparate sources within the enterprise and outside of it.
SIGMA is designed to work with a very broad range of sources and types of searches. I have no doubt in my mind that a similar application in an enterprise context could produce absolutely crisp and clear information in dashboard style.
The only problem - there is too little linked data available in enterprises. Tim Berners-Lee has been asking us to make our information and our data available to the public ....well, the least we could do is to make it available to our colleagues and business partners. Shouldn't we? The technology is already available. Of course we are capable of publishing new information in RDF and SMILA will provide the capability to automate the publication of all the "old stuff" in RDF as well.
Every day I am talking to people who have come to see, that the benefits of a future semantic web can be translated into real values for enterprises right now. We do not need to wait and see how this whole Semantic Web thing will play out! It is "yes we can!" and yes, we can start sharing information internally and build business process driven solutions that allow us to consume data powered by semantic web standards today.
